What are the Advantages of XLPE Insulated Cable Stranded Wire?

The XLPE insulated cable adopts multi-core circular stranded wire. The advantages of this stranded wire are as follows:

1. The electric field is more uniform than that of the sector conductor, which is beneficial to improve the voltage level of the cable;

2. Increase the flexibility or curvature of the conductor. The core formed by twisting multiple strands has good flexibility and large curvature.

Because when a single metal conductor is bent along a radius, the outside of its centerline must elongate and its inside must shorten. When there are multiple conductors, the wire can slide between the wires, and at the same time, the inner and outer parts of the center line of the stranded circular core can move to compensate each other without causing plastic deformation of the wire. Bending greatly improves the flexibility and stability of the core. The bendability of the XLPE insulated cable is approximately proportional to the square root of the number of strands. The more strands, the easier it is to bend, but the bendability of the cable is also limited by the outer protective layer. Therefore, when manufacturing conductors of different nominal cross-sections, a certain number of strands are specified.

3. In order to prevent the twisting phenomenon, the twisting direction of each layer is opposite to left and right, so that the position of each layer of wires is fixed and not easy to spread. When bent, each layer of wire has the same elongation. The number of single wires in the core can generally be expressed by the following formula: K=1+6+12+…+6n(n=1, 2, 3,…), the size of the wire core is calculated according to the cross-sectional area, and the unit is square mm, different countries have different standards for the cross-sectional area of the core wire.

Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable commonly used core cross-section specifications are 300, 400, 630, 1000, etc., and the cross-section of copper and aluminum conductors are produced according to the above specifications.
